Technical Reference
PoE Power Standards
Every ASTRO display and room panel runs on a single Cat6 cable. Know the wattage before you spec — it determines switch port requirements, cable run limits, and budget.
- ASTRO 10.1 requires 802.3at (PoE+) — 25.5W minimum
- 802.3bt (PoE++) delivers up to 90W — ideal for future-proof installs
- Max run: 100m (328 ft) on Cat5e or better
- PowerBx can supply PoE switches, injectors, and splitters
| Standard | Max Watts | Voltage | Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| 802.3bt (PoE++) | 90W | 50–57V | High-power AV, PTZ cameras |
| 802.3at (PoE+) | 30W | 50–57V | ASTRO displays, IP phones |
| 802.3af (PoE) | 15.4W | 44–57V | VoIP, access points |
| Passive PoE | Varies | 12–48V | Non-standard — verify compatibility |
